It is home to over 40 artists, primarily from the St. James area of Winnipeg, Manitoba.

The group was founded as a place for artists to share, practice and progress in their personal study of visual art. Its goal is to encourage potential artists to challenge their creative activity.

The members of the Norman Art Group have exhibited and sold their paintings at various venues, including the Assiniboine Clinic, the St. James-Assiniboia Library, St. James Kiwanis Village, the Assiniboine Park Conservatory, Great-West Life, the Western Canada Aviation Museum, St. James Anglican Church, and the Sir William Stephenson Library.
In addition to taking an active role in art displays at the Red River Exhibition, members of the group have exhibited throughout Manitoba in Wasagaming, Selkirk, Carberry, and Portage La Prairie.
