Winter break until January 7, 2026

This drawing was taken from a photo my husband took in the early 80’s at Fisherman’s Wharf in BC. A nice fellow walking by posed for the photograph.
Coloured felt marker
This horse belonged to a fellow Equestrienne. Sadly she is no longer with us. She was a sweet and gentle mare.

It's kind of a surrealistic piece of art with the theme of pollinators and their importance to the environment. See if you can find the wasp nest and the butterfly. I found an interesting piece of driftwood and an old deactivated wasp's nest, then realized that the wasp's nest was just the right size to fit in the curve of the driftwood. It grew from there. We have a propoerty on an island and so that seemed appropriate to place the items on an island.

My prompt for first week of October, part of INKTOBER 52., 2024 was “GLOVE”. This is from a photo I took at the Headingly Grill of a young boy’s prized Spider-Man gloves that he was wearing proudly. He showed me the Spider-Man hand gesture when he begins to shoot out spidey webs. I used black, red and blue inks and completed with a watercolour wash.
Watercolour
Enjoying the beauty of Lake of the Woods country during a lovely afternoon walk. It was so peaceful, and the shadows created by the lighting gave me motivation to paint this scene.
Watercolour - 11x14"
The French River in Ontario has trees growing out of the water.
Crayola crayon
From my original photo at Assiniboine Park Zoo. During the Pandemic Lockdown I returned to drawing with crayons. I wanted to return to that time in childhood when we first discovered art and anything was possible
Acrylic on reclaimed wood
Weatherproofed for outdoor display. Purchased while I was painting in my yard.
Acrylic
This is a scene in my neighbourhood that spoke to me this summer as I did my daily walk. I enjoy the light and long shadows in the late afternoon.
Crayola crayon
I created this image of a Hippo using Crayola Crayons. A medium which I have been using often, recently, in an attempt to bring some carefree childhood joy into my work.
Oil
Two landscapes that are from an area I paint in. I was motivated to paint these as I love this area. Great place to stroll through to and experience wild life with in the city.

My son relaxing by the ocean in Nova Scotia.

This is a view from our exploration camp looking out onto Amisk Lake in Northern Saskatchewan, back in 1980. Just reminiscing and putting those old photographs to good use.

I often walk in Assiniboine Park as I live not far away from it. This particular winter I came upon these footprints and was entranced by the beauty of the light and shadow, as well as imagining the animals and people that had passed through this part of the forested area.
Acrylic
In 2012, my husband and I were at a yoga retreat in Tuscany. We stayed in an 800-year-old stone farmhouse surrounded by farm animals, olive trees, and vineyards - a very interesting place. One day a group of us went for a walk to this location above an expansive beautiful vineyard. I was inspired to try to depict the amazing scene.
Acrylic
I painted this in the winter of 2020-2021 shortly after we had a huge dump of snow in Winnipeg. The snowplow had just come through and the sun sparkled on the snow and the houses in a fascinating scenario.
Acrylic
Inspired from a photo taken at Lake of the Woods.
Acrylic
In my garden in late summer.
Watercolour
A client commissioned me to illustrate a calm, nature scene for her massage therapy office. I painted this in watercolour 30x20" on 300lb Arches watercolour paper. Prints are available.

This scene is from a Mexican town that we used to travel to and spend 3 weeks of the winter in the sun. We met lots of beautiful Mexicans there. Many locals have only small living spaces with little or no yard, so hanging up clothes on the roof is a common sight. The colourful clothes dancing in the wind was a delight to the eye and an inspiration for the painting.

I love capturing animals through Charcoal

This was my submission to the 2024 Inktober event. The prompt was "Backpack" so I drew the bag I bring to art group meetings.

Put a Canadian flag on your backpack! Such a small and powerful symbol when travelling around the world.
It was obvious in the first 15 minutes that this was the group for me: a bunch of happy people, enjoying each other's company and creating art. No judgements - just support and encouragement.
